Arsenal open to offers for Mesut Ozil

Arsenal will listen to offers for outof favour German midfielder Mesut Ozil next month, claims The Independent.

The Gunners were eliminated from the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night after losing 2-0 at home to arch rivals Tottenham.

Ozil didn’t even make the bench in midweek and Arsenal manager Unai Emery failed to offer any assurances about the 30-year-old’s long-term future at the club.

Ozil does not fit Emery’s high-energy philosophy and Arsenal are now willing to listen to offers for the former Germany international, though may struggle to find any suitors.

Arsenal rewarded Ozil with a lucrative new contract worth in the region of £300,000-a-week at the start of the year and that could prove a major stumbling block in their attempts to offload the playmaker.

Ozil has started 10 Premier League matches for Arsenal this season but has only featured in six of their last 16 matches in all competitions.

Arsenal have a 71.4% win record in the Premier League this season when Ozil has not started compared to 50% when he has featured from the off.
