Manchester City boss Guardiola eyes raid of Bayern Munich
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is keen on raiding former club Bayern Munich for midfielder Thiago, claims The Daily Mirror.
Guardiola took Thiago to Bayern with him from Barcelona in 2013 and is now keen on another reunion with the Spanish midfielder.
City broke their club transfer record to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester in a £60m deal last summer and will reportedly have to surpass that fee to land Thiago.
Kevin De Bruyne is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Bournemouth.
The Belgium international has now suffered three serious injuries this season and there is now understandable concern about the playmaker’s durability.
Thiago has endured his own injury problems during his career and has been limited to just 16 league starts this season.
The 27-year-old boasts an impressive pass success rate of 92.2% in the Bundesliga this season and has returned two goals and as many assists.
Furthermore, of players to have attempted at least 25 dribbles in the Bundesliga this season, Thiago has the best success rate (83.3%).
