Arsenal plan contract extension for Wilshere

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Jack Wilshere remains in his long-term plans at the club and has revealed Arsenal are planning to offer the midfielder a new contract extension at the start of next year, according to The Guardian.

Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal during the summer after dropping down the pecking order at Arsenal following the arrival of Granit Xhaka.

The England international has endured an injury plagued career and has even hinted this season that he may be forced to leave Arsenal permanently to kick start his career properly.

However, Wilshere may have to re-think his long-term career after Wenger revealed the club have no interest in letting him go and even want to offer the midfielder fresh terms.

Wilshere’s Bournemouth are set to play Arsenal on Sunday but the midfielder will be forced to watch from the stands due to the terms in his loan agreement.

The 24-year-old has not picked up an injury since joining Bournemouth and has started in eight league matches for the Cherries, but is yet to register a single goal or assist for his new club. However, Wilshere has hit the woodwork more times than any other player in the Premier League this season (4).
