Manchester United outcast will not leave this summer, says agent
The agent of Anthony Martial has revealed his client will not be leaving Manchester United this summer after holding talks with chief executive Ed Woodward.
Martial has endured a difficult first season under Jose Mourinho and has been regularly linked with a move away from Old Trafford. The France international spent the vast majority of the season on the bench and in a constant battle to prove his worth to Mourinho.
Despite proving an instant hit in his first season at the club, the United manager is set to strengthen his offensive options this summer and reports had emerged suggesting Martial could be the latest Louis van Gaal signing to be shown the door as a result.
However, Martial, who is a crowd favourite after coming off the bench to score a sublime solo goal against Liverpool on his United debut, will not be leaving the club this summer.
“Martial has two years left and there is no reason for him to leave Manchester today,” his agent, Philippe Lamboley told Journal du Dimanhce, via Sky Sports.
“If [executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward tells me they want him to leave, things are different. But that is not what he told me during our last meeting.”
Despite only starting 18 league games this season, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (17) has scored more goals in the Premier League for United in the last two campaigns than Martial (15).
