Swansea plot second Las Palmas raid

Swansea are considering a second summer raid of La Liga side Las Palmas for creative star Jonathan Viera, according to Wales Online.

The Swans secured the services of Roque Mesa from the Gran Canaria outfit earlier this month and are planning to move for former teammate Viera to improve their creative options.

Speculation continues to circulate surrounding Gylfi Sigurdsson’s future at the Liberty Stadium, with the Icelander left off the club’s tour of the US.

Everton are keen on the 27-year-old and last week saw a £40m bid for Sigurdsson rejected by Swansea, who are looking to retain their prized asset’s services.

However, they could use any money raised from Sigurdsson’s possible sale to move for Viera, who enjoyed an impressive campaign for Las Palmas.

The 27-year-old Spaniard scored seven goals and registered a further seven assists in Spain’s top tier last term, while only Lionel Messi (71) made more key passes from open play than Viera (67) in La Liga.

Viera has a €30m release clause in his contract and with four years left to run on his current deal, Las Palmas are under no pressure to sell the former Valencia attacker.
