Paris Saint-Germain eye audacious move for Real Madrid star
Paris Saint-Germain plan to replace outgoing striker Edison Cavani with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer, claims Mundo Deportivo.
Cavani will leave PSG at the end of the season when his current deal expires after seven years at the club and Thomas Tuchel is on the market for his replacement.
The Ligue 1 giants have now earmarked former France international and Lyon striker Benzema as their preferred target.
Being linked with a move away from Madrid comes with the territory of playing for the biggest club in the world and Benzema has had to deal with that side of the game ever since moving to Spain.
As Madrid continue to be heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund hoshot Erling Haaland, the natural conclusion is to expect reduced game time and possibly a move away for Benzema.
However, PSG face an uphill battle to convince Benzema to leave Madrid due to his connection with Lyon and the fact he wants to continue making history with Los Blancos.
Benzema made a blistering start to the 2019/20 campaign with 17 goals and assists in his first 15 league appearances, but has struggled since the middle of December.
In fact, the 32-year-old has managed just two goals and one assist in his subsequent 11 league appearances.
