Manchester United set to sign Championship starlet in shock £10m deal

Manchester United are closing to agreeing a shock deal with Swansea for talented attacker Daniel James, claims The Daily Mail.

Leeds agreed a £8.5m deal with Swansea for the 21-year-old in January but the deal collapsed on deadline day.

Swansea had hoped to keep James for the foreseeable future but have been bowled over by United’s surprise bid.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants United to move away from Galactico signings and recruit players who genuinely want to play for the club.

United have made an early move for the Wales international in a bid to catch their Premier League rivals off guard.

Everton were one of several top-flight clubs interested in James but appear to have missed out to United.

James will only have 12 months left to run on his current Swansea deal this summer and United are on the verge of agreeing a cut-price transfer.

James played a direct hand in 11 goals in 33 league appearances this season and demonstrated his counter-attacking qualities in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester City in March.
