Liverpool midfielder signs for Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin have announced they have re-signed Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic on a season-long loan deal.

Grujic spent last season on loan at Hertha and the Bundesliga outfit have agreed a £2m fee to prolong his stay at the club for another year.

“I wanted to stay to at Hertha, so I’m happy that it’s all worked out well,” he told the club’s official website.

The 23-year-old was briefly linked with a big money move to Atletico Madrid this summer, earmarked as a potential replacement for Manchester City-bound Rodrigo.

Atletico instead moved for Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente and Grujic remains part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Liverpool.

Klopp intends to blood Grujic into his first-team plans for the 2020/21 campaign after another season of development with Hertha.

The Serbia international made 22 league appearances for Hertha last season and finished the campaign as the club’s highest WhoScored rated player (7.26).
