Bayern Munich back in for Chelsea youngster

Bayern Munich are ready to rekindle their interest in Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, claims Sky Germany.

Bayern are huge admirers of Hudson-Odoi and have had four previous bids for the England international knocked back by Chelsea.

The Bundesliga champions wanted to sign Hudson-Odoi as a replacement for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery in January 2019.

Hansi Flick's side ended up signing Ivan Perisic on loan from Inter 12 months ago and then Leroy Sane from Manchester City permanently this summer.

However, Hudson-Odoi is back on Bayern's radar following Chelsea's stunning summer spending spree that has left the 19-year-old facing an uncertain future.

Frank Lampard's side have spent well in excess of £200m on new players for 2020/21 with new arrivals Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz now in competition for places with Hudson-Odoi.

Bayern are keen on signing the teenager on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy but it's unclear whether Chelsea are willing to sanction his departure.

Despite several new faces in attack, Chelsea did lose both Willian and Pedro earlier in the summer and Hudson-Odoi is one of very few natural wide players left at the club.

Hudson-Odoi was limited to just seven starts in the Premier League last season, making a further 15 appearances from the bench.

However, of players with at least 20 Premier League appearances in 2019/20, only Kevin De Bruyne (every 140 minutes) registered an assist more frequently than Hudson-Odoi (every 170 minutes).
