Napoli winger Dries Mertens is close to agreeing a contract extension after his representatives met with the Serie A side, reports Sky Italia.
Maurizio Sarri’s side reportedly rejected a €30m (£21.9m) bid from Wolfsburg this summer and are keen to tie down the 28-year-old for his remaining best years.
The Belgium international’s current deal still has three years to run, but the former PSV winger will reportedly be handed a new extension that will run until 2020.
Since making his debut for the Partenopei in 2013, only Marek Hamsik (125) has made more key passes than Mertens (110) for Napoli in the Serie A.
