Chelsea in contract talks with Hazard every week, claims Sarri

Maurizio Sarri has revealed Chelsea are in constant communication with Eden Hazard’s entourage about a new contract.

Chelsea are willing to make Hazard the best-paid player in the club’s history on £300,000-a-week but the Belgian is still stalling on a new deal.

Hazard wants to gauge Real Madrid’s interest before making a decision on his Chelsea future.

Madrid were heavily linked with a move for Hazard in the summer but refused to match Chelsea’s £200m asking price.

Hazard will only have 12 months left to run on his current deal at the end of the season and Chelsea will almost certainly have to sell if they fail to agree new terms before then.

It’s not for a lack of trying, as Sarri has revealed the west London outfit are in constant dialogue with Hazard’s representatives in a desperate bid to convince their star man to sign a new deal.

“I know very well that there are discussions between the club and manager of Eden every week I think, so if there is something new, the club will call me immediately,” the London Evening Standard quote Sarri as saying.

“Eden is very important for us, like every special player. He’s important for his club. I think the club is available to sign a new contract immediately, but it’s up to him if he wants to renew or not. I want Eden here, of course, but I want him here if he wants to stay here.”

Hazard has arguably been one of the best players in the world since the start of the 2018 World Cup.

In fact, only Raheem Sterling (14) and Callum Wilson (13) have played a direct hand in more Premier League goals than Hazard this season (12).
