Valencia push for former Italy boss

Valencia have launched a move to make former Italy manager Cesare Prandelli their new manager, according to AS.

The Spanish side are currently managerless after sacking Pako Ayestaran last week and had been linked with ex-Villarreal manager Villarreal.

However, a move for the Spaniard appears dead in the water after failing to convince La Liga to make an exception in the rule to allow Marcelino to manage to clubs in the same top division season.

Instead, Valencia have now turned their attentions to Prandelli, who has been out of work since managing Galatasaray for five months towards the end of 2014.

Since leaving Fiorentina in 2010 after five years, Prandelli has managed 72 matches across spells at Italy and Galatasaray with a win ratio of 43.1%.
