Jorge Sampaoli gets his wish to work with Lionel Messi

Jorge Sampaoli will leave Sevilla after just one season in charge of the club to return to international management as Argentina head coach, reports AS.

The 57-year-old stepped down as Chile manager to move into club management and become Sevilla boss and has been a revelation in La Liga this season.

He was briefly touted as a potential successor for Luis Enrique when the Spaniard steps down as Barcelona head coach at the end of the season after making it clear he wants to work with Lionel Messi.

Sampaoli is set to get his wish, but with an Argentina national team who are in disarray at the moment. Argentina are at risk of failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and will be without Messi, who is suspended, for three of their last four matches.

Argentina have been without a manager since sacking Edgardo Bauza at the start of the month after just eight matches in charge.
