Paris Saint-Germain sweating on Neymar injury

Paris Saint-Germain are sweating on results to discover the extent of Neymar’s ankle injury, reports Sky Sports.

Neymar was stretchered off in tears at the end of PSG’s 3-0 win over Marseille on Sunday night after appearing to roll his ankle with less than 10 minutes remaining.

The Brazil international has reportedly avoided a fracture but PSG fear the 26-year-old may have suffered ankle ligament damage, which would mean an extensive injury lay-off.

PSG host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie next Tuesday looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit and their chances of doing so would take a significant hit if Neymar is ruled out.

Neymar has been in tremendous form since joining the French giants in a world record €222m deal from Barcelona in the summer but he was signed to end PSG’s illusive search for European glory.

Crashing out of the Champions League at the first knockout stage would be a bitter blow for PSG, who also invested €180m in Kylian Mbappe over the summer.
