Liverpool launch Barcelona raid

Liverpool have lodged a £19m offer for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.

The Reds will reportedly make signing a new goalkeeper one of their main priorities in the summer despite the fact current No.1 between the sticks Simon Mignolet penned a new long-term deal in January.

Liverpool have been regularly linked with a move for Ter Stegen, who is currently behind Claudio Bravo in the pecking order at the Camp Nou.

Ter Stegen, 23, has been tipped as Manuel Neuer’s successor in the Germany national set up but has been forced to sit on the bench for the most part of his Barcelona career since he made the switch in 2014.

Barcelona have no desire in selling the former Gladbach goalkeeper, with Luis Enrique keen to keep Ter Stegen as his cup goalkeeper with a view to replacing Bravo, 32, in all competitions in the future.

Since Aug 2014 no goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the knockout stages of the Champions League than Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (4).
