Real Madrid will announce their first signing of the summer on Friday with the official confirmation of Theo Hernandez’s move from city rivals Atletico Madrid, reports MARCA.
Hernandez was one of the best young players in Spain last season after spending the year on loan at Alaves and has been heavily linked with a move to Madrid and Barcelona ever since the end of the campaign.
Atletico have been powerless in preventing Hernandez leaving the club this summer due to the fact he has a €24m (£21m) release clause in his existing contract.
Despite that, Madrid will actually end up paying €26m (£22.8m) for the 19-year-old and are reportedly going to pay over the release clause to snap up Real Betis star Dani Ceballos ahead of Barcelona as well.
Hernandez, who will sign a five-year deal, will speak to the media in the presidential box at midday on Friday before being presented on the pitch in a Madrid shirt.
Of all defenders, only Filipe Luis (74), who is preventing Hernandez’s pathway into the Atletico first-team, completed more dribbles of all defenders in La Liga last season than the teenager (65).
