Manchester City are due to make a decision in the coming days on whether to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez this month, claim The Daily Mail.
Sanchez has only got six months left to run on his current Arsenal deal and is desperate to join City in order to reunite with Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola’s side failed to get a £60m deal for Sanchez over the line in the summer and it was thought they’d return for the forward as soon as the January transfer window opened.
However, Guardiola is weary that any January arrivals may upset squad harmony and a decision on whether to test the waters with Arsenal will be made by the end of the week.
Arsene Wenger has already revealed that Sanchez could leave in this window and Arsenal are thought to be open to offers in excess of £25m.
Sanchez’s desire to leave Arsenal has reportedly caused tension in the dressing room and City must now decide whether to pay out for him now or risk signing him for nothing at the end of the season.
Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury may convince Guardiola to land the Chile international this month as City are still going strong on four fronts.
Sanchez has not performed at his best for Arsenal this season but he has still weighed in with seven goals and three assists for the Gunners in the Premier League, one fewer than team-mate Alexandre Lacazette.
