Aston Villa have rejected Celtic’s £2m bid for forward Scott Sinclair, according to The Daily Mail.
New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to reunite with Sinclair in Glasgow having formed a profitable partnership with the 27-year-old during their time at Swansea in 2011.
Sinclair has failed to make any impression at Villa since joining from Manchester City on a permanent deal last summer but Roberto Di Matteo’s side feel the forward could be useful in the Championship next season.
It remains to be seen whether Celtic will return with an improved offer for the Englishman but they would also need to consider Sinclair still has three years remaining on his £60,000-a-week salary.
Of players to have started more than 10 games in the Premier League last season no player scored a lower WhoScored rating than Sinclair (6.24).
