Manchester United set to run the rule over Anderlecht midfielder
Manchester United, along with AC Milan and RB Leipzig, will have scouts in attendance when Anderlecht kick off their league campaign against Antwerp on Friday to run the rule over Leander Dendoncker, reports De Morgen.
The 22-year-old Belgium international earned widespread praise across the continent for a series of mature performances for Anderlecht in the Europa League.
Everton had been credited with an interest in Dendoncker earlier this year, but the Toffees can expect to face competition from United, AC Milan and RB Leipzig if they opt to make a move for the youngster.
Dendoncker is believed to be high on Jose Mourinho’s midfield wish list this summer after he was impressed by his showings in both Europa League legs against United last season.
However, Dendoncker won’t come cheap, with Anderlecht supposedly demanding €38m for the midfielder, particularly after the sale of Youri Tielemans to Monaco.
United would hope to negotiate that fee down, but may have to act quickly to beat off competition in his signature if they are to firm up their rumoured interest in the Belgian.
