Tottenham considering sensational late swoop for Chelsea star

Tottenham are considering whether to make a sensational move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher ahead of Thursday's deadline, reports the Times. 

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Gallagher since the summer, though in the months since he has gone on to become a key player for Chelsea. 

The England international has captained the west London side in the absence of both Reece James and Ben Chilwill this season with head coach Mauricio Pochettino a big fan of the central midfielder. 

However some at the club are keen to cash in on Gallagher in order to stay within Premier League financial regulations. 

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is a huge admirer of Gallagher and is hoping to capitalise on Chelsea's need to sell an academy product to boost the north London side for the second half of the season. 

Gallagher has just 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, though both player and club are yet to start talks over a new contract at the club.
