Barcelona set sights on Manchester United striker
According to Mundo Deportivo Barcelona are weighing up an offer for Anthony Martial with the money they received for Neymar during the summer.
The France international remains very much a squad player at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho but has enjoyed a notable start to the campaign nonetheless.
The 21-year-old has five goals and five assists to his name in just 371 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils this season, contributing to a goal every 37.1 minutes thus far.
He remains behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order from the left of United’s attack though, and will be keen to establish himself as a more regular fixture in the side ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
The Premier League title contenders forked out around £50m up front for the youngster’s services from Monaco in 2015, with add ons taking that sum to a potential £80m, including a £10m payment due once the forward makes another ten international appearances.
Barcelona, therefore, could make a move for Martial before then in an attempt to secure his services for a lower fee.
The blaugrana spent much of the money received from the sale of Neymar on Ousmane Dembele during the summer but a long term injury has led them to look for further reinforcements to their front three, and a move for Martial could yet be on the cards.
