Antonio signs new West Ham deal

West Ham have announced Michail Antonio has signed a new four-year deal keeping him at the club until 2020.

Antonio developed into an integral player for Slaven Bilic during the second half of last season and was particularly useful when filling in at right-back.

West Ham only signed Antonio from Nottingham Forest last summer but the 26-year-old has been rewarded for his form last season with an improved contract.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I am happy that the manager and the chairman have showed their belief in me to give me a new deal,” Antonio told West Ham’s official website.

“I have always believed in my own ability and when I am given the opportunity I will take it and hopefully I have showed that.

“I had to be patient when I first arrived, but once I got the chance I never looked back and hopefully I can now push on and do even better than what I did last season.”

Only Gareth Bale (9) and Olivier Giroud (7) scored more headed goals in Europe’s top five leagues last season than Antonio (6).
