Manchester United plot £160m move for England duo

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bring close friends Jack Grealish and James Maddison to the club in the summer, claims The Sun.

United have been heavily linked with a move for both players all season but it was always thought they would sign one and not the other.

Grealish had emerged as the frontrunner in that respect, with Maddison close to agreeing a new long-term deal with Leicester, after hitting career-best form for Aston Villa.

However, it has now been revealed United are planning a stunning £160m double swoop to sign both midfielders at the end of the season.

Grealish and Maddison spent the winter break together in Dubai and Solskjaer believes both players can play an important role in United's resurgence.

United chief Ed Woodward has reaffirmed the club will be busy in the summer transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho also in their sights.

Maddison and Grealish have played a direct hand in 21 goals between them in the Premier League this season and are thought to be in direct competition for a starting berth for England at Euro 2020.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (65) has created more goalscoring chances than Grealish (55) from open play in the Premier League this season, while Maddison is the most creative player in the division from set pieces (32 key passes registered).
