Watford manager seeks forward reinforcement

Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores admits he will be looking to sign a striker in January to help Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo up front.

Ighalo, in particular, has been in sensational form this season and is now being backed up by his captain, who has scored four in his last five games.

However, Flores understands it would be dangerous to rely on both of them to ensure their Premier League survival this season.

“Sometimes things happen that we don’t expect,” the Watford manager told the London Evening Standard.

“We love Deeney and Ighalo but we have to think about injuries, suspensions and just how long and difficult the season is. So maybe we need one player to cover them.

“We are always working with ideas to improve the team. We did a lot of work in the summer market and we will work again in the winter market.”

Between the strikers, they have scored 80 per cent of Watford’s 15 league goals this season (12).
