Borussia Dortmund beat Real Madrid to AIK wonderkid

Borussia Dortmund have announced they have won the race to sign AIK striker Alexander Isak.

Isak, 17, had been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this month and was reportedly on the verge of signing for the reigning European Champions.

However, Dortmund stole a march in the race to land the Sweden international over the weekend and have concluded a deal worth a reported €10m (£8.6m).

Isak, who has only played two international friendlies since the start of November, has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Bundesliga giants, with the deal still waiting for FIFA approval due to the fact the Swede is only 17 and counted as a minor.

“Alexander Isak is a hugely-talented striker, who many top clubs in Europe want to sign,” Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, told the club’s official website.

“We are delighted that he has chosen Borussia Dortmund. Both BVB and the player himself are convinced that this transfer has great potential.”

Isak made his full international debut for Sweden earlier this year and scored to break a 104-year-old record set by Erik Dahlstrom as the youngest player to score for Sweden.

The teenager finished last season with 10 goals in 24 league appearances.
