Bayern Munich keen on Bayer Leverkusen starlet

Bayern Munich are in talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, claims German outlet Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Havertz has emerged as one of the best prospects in Europe over the last 12 months.

The Germany international still has three years left to run on his current Leverkusen deal.

Bayern are planning a mass-squad overhaul over the next few transfer windows to bring the average age of their team down.

Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben both left Bayern at the end of last season, while Mats Hummels returned to Borussia Dortmund.

Niko Kovac’s side completed loan deals for Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho in the last few weeks after failing to nail down their first choice targets.

Havertz started the campaign in the same form as he finished the last one, playing an instrumental role in another Leverkusen victory.

The 20-year-old scored in a 3-2 win over newly promoted Paderborn to take his Bundesliga tally to 18 since the beginning of last season.

Furthermore, Havertz is the second youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 25 career league goals (20 years, 67 days).
