Ilkay Gundogan wants to sign a new Manchester City deal and will turn down Barcelona’s advances, claims The Sun.
The Germany international has spent the last two years at City but has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth in that time.
An injury-plagued past has impacted Gundogan’s career but is still regarded as a top-class central midfielder.
Barcelona are reportedly keen to sound out a potential move for the 27-year-old in January when he will only have 18 months left on his current City deal.
However, Gundogan has no desire to leave City and is actually keen to open talks with the club about a new long-term deal.
Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term knee injury has opened up the door for regular first-team football for Gundogan this season.
The City No.8 has started three of the club's opening four matches in the Premier League.
Of City players that have made at least three starts in the league this term, only two have a better pass accuracy than Gundogan (92.6%).
