Puel backs Forster to replace Hart

Southampton manager has backed Fraser Forster to replace Joe Hart as England’s No.1 goalkeeper.

Hart, 29, has dropped down the pecking order at Manchester City this season following the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager.

The England international was poor in their dismal Euro 2016 campaign in the summer and accountable for at least two goals they conceded in the competition and Puel believes Forster has what it takes to heap further misery on Hart.

“For me Fraser Forster is a very good goalkeeper with experience and maturity,” The Daily Mail quotes Puel as saying.

“He has all the qualities to answer the challenge of the national team. Everyday to have a goalkeeper in the team with his qualities, it’s not a problem for Fraser.”

In Forster’s six international caps so far he has conceded seven goals and kept just one clean sheet.
