Bayern Munich set to reward star man with new long-term deal

Bayern Munich are keen to avoid any questions being asked of Thiago’s long-term future by handing their star midfielder with a new long-term contract, reports Kicker, via Get German Football.

Thiago is currently enjoying the best form of his career and he is arguably one of the best players in the world on current performances but his current deal with Bayern is due to expire in 2019.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side realise that serious questions will be asked of Thiago’s future if they let him enter the final 18 months of his contract next season and are keen to avoid that mess.

Despite not previously being known for his ability to break up the opposition play, Thiago became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to complete more than 100 interceptions at the weekend (108).

Not only that, but only Neymar (8.54) and Lionel Messi (8.38) have secured a higher WhoScored rating in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Thiago (8.33).
