Switzerland international on Tottenham’s radar

Basel striker Breel Embolo has moved up Tottenham’s wish list this summer as Mauricio Pochettino searches for the ideal support striker for Harry Kane, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Tottenham have been on the hunt for a secondary striker since the start of last season to help ease the burden on Kane but have proved unsuccessful in previous attempts to sign the likes of Saido Berahino from West Brom.

Pochettino’s side have since been linked with a high calibre of striker with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi continually linked with a move to White Hart Lane.

However, Spurs are now turning their attentions to Embolo, who should play a prominent part for Switzerland in the Euros later this month.

Embolo, 19, is highly rated with his lightening speed his standout trait, but Tottenham face strong competition from newly promoted RB Leipzig, who are reportedly at an advanced stage in talks over a deal.

The teenager scored two goals from eight appearances in the Europa League last season but was dispossessed more times per game than any other player (4.6).
