Barcelona forward eyes long-term stay

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez insists he has absolutely no intentions of leaving the European champions and doesn’t think Lionel Messi will either.

Suarez, 28, still has four years left to run on his current deal having joined from Liverpool in 2014.

The Uruguayan international enjoyed a stunning maiden campaign with Barcelona winning a historic European and league treble, and he doesn’t expect to leave anytime soon.

I wouldn’t leave Barca for triple the money. It’s impossible for me to leave in the coming years,” Suarez said during an Adidas promotional event. “I suffered a lot to get to this club, where I’ve always dreamed of playing.

“I want to play here, my family is happy and I know the city like the back of my hand. I cannot guarantee that I will retire here, but I will be here for a long time.

“I can’t see Messi leaving either. He is happy, having a good time and his family is happy. Leo is pure talent. He is the best in the world and will remain so for a long time.”

Since joining from Liverpool in 2014, Suarez has scored 40 goals in 54 league and Champions League appearances.

The Barcelona No.9 was in sensational form during Messi’s long-term injury absence and his form in November (8.43 rating) was enough to keep him inside the top 20 rated players across Europe’s top five leagues.
