Bayern Munich president Herbet Hainer has poured cold water on suggestions Robert Lewandowski could join Chelsea this summer.
The Poland international had emerged as a shock transfer target for Chelsea in the wake of their failed attempt to prise Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea have endured a frustrating search for a new striker this summer and are back to square one after Hainer confirmed Lewandowski will see out the remainder of his contract.
"Firstly, in my opinion Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. We are so happy that we have him in our team," he told Goal.
"He still has two more years on his contract. He will definitely play those with Bayern Munich.
"I said it already a few weeks ago - I could imagine him staying with us for even longer. He will honour his contract. He will definitely play the next two seasons here in Bayern Munich."
😯 Robert Lewandowski has averaged a Bundesliga goal every 69.7 minutes since turning 30, down from one every 101.9 minutes for Bayern Munich in his 20s.
