Key Liverpool duo set to pen new deals

Liverpool are ready to finalise new contracts for key defensive pair Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, reports 90min. 

The Reds' season may have tailed off of late, with Liverpool's unbeaten run coming to an end at Watford and Atletico Madrid knocking the Merseyside powerhouse out of the Champions League, but a silver lining comes in the form of new deals for the pair. 

Both players have been a revelation for Liverpool on the back of their respective arrivals from Roma and Southampton and are set to be rewarded handsomely for their efforts. 

Liverpool sit top of the Premier League, 25 points clear of defending champions Manchester City, but the coronavirus outbreak has delayed their title push. 

A key reason for their rise to first has been their watertight defence, which has conceded fewer goals (21) than any other Premier League team this season. 

Van Dijk's current contract expires in 2023 and the Reds are keen to ward off any possible interest in the Dutchman.

Alisson meanwhile has established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in the game on the back of his big money arrival 18 months ago.
