Watford are ready to follow up the club-record arrival of Brazilian attack Richarlison by signing Burnley striker Andre Gray, reports The Daily Mirror.
Marco Silva is desperate to strengthen his offensive options before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month and wants to sign Gray, who has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal at Turf Moor.
Burnley were left shocked by Gray’s stunning £70,000-a-week wage demands and are not willing to compromise their wage structure for him, leaving his future up in the air.
Everton were linked with a move for the 26-year-old earlier in the summer but now Watford are gunning for the striker despite shelling out more than £11m on Richarlison.
Silva’s side have reportedly already had two bids for Gray rejected this summer, although they remain confident of agreeing a deal due to the fact the striker will be free to leave for nothing in 12 months.
Only four players were caught offside more times in the Premier League last season than Gray (35).
