Juventus midfielder confirms MLS move

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has ruled out moving to America for now but has revealed he will make the switch to MLS at one point in his career.

The 29-year-old has won almost everything there is to offer in football but isn’t interested in slowing down just yet despite interest from China and MLS.

Khedira’s current deal at Juventus isn’t due to expire until 2019 and not only is he looking to lift the Champions League for a second time, he also wants to help Germany defend their World Cup title.

“It’s a must to try to win the Champions League,” Khedira told La Repubblica, via Football Italia. “This could be the right season. To win in Europe you need stability, form and luck: it’s a combination of factors.

“We certainly have the quality as well as the willingness to sacrifice for this team. I’ll go to America but not now. I want to play at a high level for a few more years. I want to win the Champions League and I want to defend the World Cup trophy with Germany.

“I wouldn’t be able to do all that in the USA or China. I also earn well here, by the way.”

Since putting the injury concerns that ended his time at Madrid behind him, Khedira has become a regular for Max Allegri at Juventus during his two years in charge and he has also taken on a slightly different role.

In fact, Khedira has scored or assisted 16 league goals in his two years at Juventus when he only managed to play a direct hand in 12 goals during 5 years at Real Madrid.
