Wolves have announced John Ruddy has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2020.
The 31-year-old only joined Wolves 12 months ago and played an integral part in their promotion-winning campaign in the Championship last season.
Ruddy has dropped down the pecking order at Wolves this season after Nuno’s side pulled off a coup to sign Portugal international Rui Patricio.
The former Norwich shot-stopper has already conceded his frustration at being replaced but has now penned improved terms at the club.
“John was pivotal to our promotion campaign last season, and his clean sheets and consistent performances rightly earned him a spot in the Championship team of the year,” Wolves’ sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, told the club’s official website.
“With Carl’s diagnosis a big blow to everyone at the club last summer, John signed for us under difficult circumstances, but his professionalism was evident throughout and his experience of promotion from the Championship with Norwich was invaluable.
“John quickly became a well respected member of Nuno’s squad and we are delighted that he has signed a new deal.”
Ruddy made his first appearance of the season in Wolves’ 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup in midweek.
He kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Championship last season (24).
