Barcelona are interested in making a summer move for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez in the summer as they seek long-term replacements for Javier Mascherano or Jeremy Mathieu, reports AS.
Sanchez, 20, joined Ajax from Colombian side Atletico Nacional in 2016 and has enjoyed a fine maiden campaign for the Dutch giants.
His performances have even caught the eye of Barcelona this season, with Luis Enrique’s side looking to add fresh legs to their aging back four having already signed 23-year-old Samuel Umtiti last summer.
Barcelona have previously been linked with a move for Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina but the reigning La Liga champions have now set their sights on his international teammate, Sanchez.
The Colombia international has started in all but one of Ajax’s league matches this season and is currently in the Eredivisie Team of the Season (7.29 rating).
He has impressively weighed in with five goals and two assists from centre-back this season in the league, but importantly for Barcelona, averages the most passes per league game for Ajax (71.1) and also does so at the best success rate (89%) at the club of their regular starters.
