Roma have announced they have signed Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons in a deal worth €5m (£4.4m).
Gonalons, who endured a difficult season last term at the French giants, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal lasting until 2021.
Roma have been very busy in the transfer window this summer and have now added the experience of the 28-year-old to their midfield following the departure of Leandro Paredes to Zenit over the weekend.
“After speaking with Monchi and the coach about their ambitions, I did not hesitate for a moment,” Gonalons told the club’s official website. “For this reason there were no issues and everything was agreed very quickly. I cannot wait for this new adventure.”
With Lucas Tousart on the rise, Gonalons has seeked a new challenge in Italy and he could prove an absolute steal for the Serie A giants given that price in the current climate.
Only Nantes midfielder Valentine Rongier (128) made more tackles in Ligue 1 last season than Gonalons (127).
