Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to hand Marouane Fellaini a new two-year deal, according to The Sun.
Fellaini, 28, joined United as the first signing of the post-Ferguson era but has failed to win over the Old Trafford fans since.
The Belgium international has often been scapegoated as all that is wrong with United in the resulting three years of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement but the controversial midfielder has started the season in sensational form for new manager Mourinho.
Many expected Fellaini to be sold this summer but it now appears he has a large role to play in Mourinho’s time as United boss and could now be set for a new contract extension.
Since August 2012 no player has committed more fouls in the Premier League than Fellaini (218).
