Valencia have ended their pursuit of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo following his surprise resurgence under Jose Mourinho this season, reports Marca.
The La Liga side have been long-term admirers of Rojo and have been interested in bringing him to the club since he joined United from Sporting in 2014.
Rojo was tipped to leave United in the summer following Mourinho’s arrival, while a January exit was also tipped at the start of the season with clubs from China reportedly interested in the Argentina international.
However, the 26-year-old been called upon in recent months following long-term injuries sustained to Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly and the versatile defender has impressed in that period.
With Bailly set to leave for Africa Cup of Nations at the start of next month, Rojo will be required as United continue to fight on four fronts this season, which means any January move for Rojo is a non-starter.
Since being given a run in the first team on October 29, only Steve Cook (91) has completed more clearances than Rojo (78) in the Premier League.
