AC Milan go big once again with arrival of Bayer Leverkusen star
AC Milan have made their sixth signing of the summer after announcing the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu on a four-year deal until 2021.
Calhanoglu hasn’t featured since the end of January after being hit with a four-month playing ban by FIFA due to a contractual despite dating back to his time in Turkey.
However, the Turkey international had been enjoying a fine season up until that point and Milan have put their faith in the 23-year-old in a deal worth a reported €24m (£21.1m).
Milan are now approaching the £100m mark for transfers this summer. As well as making Andre Silva the club’s most expensive player of all-time, Vincenzo Montella’s side have recruited Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Franck Kessie and Fabio Borini.
In the last three campaigns in Europe’s top five leagues, only Lionel Messi and Miralem Pjanic (both 8) have scored more free-kicks than Calhanoglu (7).
