Tottenham plot £30m move for former Manchester United target

Tottenham are preparing a £30m move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler at the end of the season, claims ESPN.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Tottenham are working on new signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli have been ruled out until March, while Mousa Dembele left the club earlier this month.

It has now emerged that Tottenham have set their sights on Valencia starlet Soler, though a deal will not be completed until the summer.

Soler, who has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, is also a summer target for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Tottenham believe they have the edge on their European rivals due to the fact they can offer Soler regular playing time.

The 22-year-old has spent most of the season playing as a wide-right midfielder, where he scored against United in the Champions League group stage.

However, Soler can also play centrally and the fact he is a young prospect has made him a top target for the north London outfit.

Soler is yet to score a league goal this season in 19 appearances but has reserved his best performances for Europe.

The Spain Under-21 international has played a direct hand in four goals in six appearances, winning the WhoScored Man of the Match award on two occasions.
