Bayern Munich have been given a boost in their interest of Gonzalo Higuain with the Argentina international leaning towards rejecting Napoli’s contract offer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Football Italia.
The Bundesliga giants have Higuain on their radar if they fail to keep hold of Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season, with PSG and Chelsea also suggested being interested in the striker.
Higuain, 28, still has more than two years remaining on his current deal at the San Paolo and Napoli are understandably keen to tie down the in-form striker for the long-term.
However, they have reportedly already been knocked back in their first attempts to sit down with the Argentine and discuss a contract extension, with the striker instead focused on the league.
The former Real Madrid striker is currently batting Luis Suarez for the title as the best out-and-out striker in Europe’s top five leagues this season having fired Napoli into a title race with Juventus for the Serie A title.
In fact, only the Barcelona frontman (25) has scored more goals than Higuain (24) across Europe’s top five leagues.
