Liverpool target signs new deal with Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool have been served a decisive blow in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic after the teenager put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the Bundesliga giants.
Pulisic, 18, had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this season as Jurgen Klopp eyed a raid on his former club but the Reds boss will now have to look at alternative targets.
The United States international is now contracted to Dortmund until 2020 to cap what has already been a great day for the club after they announced they had beaten Real Madrid to the signature of Swedish teenager Alexander Isak.
“We are very happy to have secured the long-term commitment of another extraordinarily talented player,” Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, told the club’s official website. “Christian already enjoys a high standing within the team and can become a cornerstone of our sporting future.”
Pulisic has enjoyed a thoroughly impressive campaign for Dortmund this season and appears to be thriving alongside some of the best young talent in Europe, with Ousmane Dembele another teenager set for a big future at the club.
Of players that have attempted at least 40 dribbles in the Bundesliga this season only three have done so with a greater dribble success rate than Pulisic (61%).
