West Ham suffer blow in striker pursuit

West Ham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, with the player adament he is staying in Spain.

The 23-year-old had struggled for game time earlier in the season, but has become a first team regular for Sevilla in recent weeks and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Indeed, En-Nesyri has scored two hat-tricks in his last four LaLiga outings, while eight of the 12 league goals he has netted in 2020/21 have come in his last six appearances.

The Hammers had been linked with a move for the Moroccan as they look to bring in a new frontman before the January transfer window closes on February 1st.

However, En-Nesyri has moved to end any chance of West Ham securing the striker's services.

Quoted by Estadio Deportivo, via Sport Witness, En-Nesyri responded to speculation over his future as stating: "For now I’m staying at Sevilla, I’m going nowhere, I want to finish the year here, it’s a great club and I want to be here."

West Ham have been linked with a host of strikers to replace Sebastien Haller, who left the London Stadium for Ajax earlier this month, including Boulaye Dia, Josh King and Patson Daka.
