Liverpool see £61m wonderkid bid rejected

According to reports in the Daily Mirror, citing Portuguese paper Correio de Manha as the source, Liverpool have had a monumental offer rebuffed for Benfica’s Joao Felix.

The teenager, who can play up front or from wide, has been a regular in the Liga NOS outfit’s first team squad this season having graduated from the club’s academy.

He has featured ten times in the league in 2018/19, making five starts and registering a WhoScored.com rating of 7.28 from said starts.

The 19-year-old has found the net four times already, with Felix’s first league goal for the club coming in just his second appearance. The youngster came off the bench to score the equalising goal in the Lisbon derby with Sporting CP, and he has been monitored closely by some of Europe’s top clubs since.

Liverpool are just one of a number of clubs interested as a result but are seemingly the first to make a concrete offer at a whopping £61m. It’s a bid that is said to have been rejected though, with the starlet’s contract setting his release clause at an eye-watering £105m.
