Arsenal star injured for a month

Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of their first Premier League title in more than a decade after Arsene Wenger confirmed No.1 goalkeeper Petr Cech will be sidelined for up to a month with a calf injury.

Cech, 33, sustained a injury in the dying embers of the Gunners’  2-1 defeat to Swansea and will now be replaced by David Ospina in the Arsenal goal until April.

Consecutive league defeats have left Arsenal six points adrift of league leaders Leicester and their task has been made even harder after losing arguably their best performer this season.

“Cech is out, Koscielny is not back,” Wenger is quoted as saying by The Independent. “Tech will be three or four weeks with a calf injury. He had a groin alert, he could not kick the ball properly because of his groin.”

Only Jack Butland (92) has made more saves than Cech (87) in the Premier League this season.
