Austria vs Turkiye: Backing Austria to win in 16/1 Bet Builder

Austria take on Turkiye in tonight's final round-of-16 meeting at Euro 2024 with a spot in the quarter-finals up for grabs. Austria have proven one of the tournament's surprise packages having pipped France and the Netherlands to top spot in Group D.

Turkiye meanwhile are doing their best to live up to their 'Dark Horse' billing but will have their work cut out in Leipzig. Vincenzo Montella is without captain Hakan Calhanoglu as the Inter man is suspended, and his absence is a huge blow for the Crescent-Stars.

Austria to win

The aforementioned absence of Hakan Calhanoglu is a huge blow for Turkiye. An already tough task becomes that much harder without the captain to control proceedings in the middle of the park. Austria have proven they are no mere pushovers at Euro 2024 and come into tonight's meeting with Turkiye having won eight of their last 10 matches.

One of those defeats in that run came in their matchday one loss to France, with a first half Max Wober own goal proving the difference against one of the Euro 2024 favourites. It'll be close but Austria should claim a spot in the quarter-finals tonight.

Stefan Posch to be carded

Stefan Posch is clearly prepared to take one for the team. The Austria right-back has committed nine fouls at Euro 2024; only Slovenia's Adam Gnezda Cerin (10) has committed more. Posch has also been carded once at the tournament and up against a wide-pair of Kenan Yildiz and Ferdi Kadioglu, the 27-year-old may find himself in hot water once more.

Kenan Yildiz - Over 1.5 shots

Speaking of Kenan Yildiz, the 19-year-old has been a bright spark for Turkiye in Germany. The teenager started the 3-0 loss to Portugal on the bench but featured from the outset in meetings with Georgia and Czechia. Yildiz has fired off the 15th most shots (9) at Euro 2024, managing an average of three per game. In his two starts, he managed at least two shots, so we're backing the Juventus youngster to have over 1.5 shots against Austria tonight.
