Napoli front pair lead the way in Serie A best XI

It’s an all Napoli front pair in the Serie A team of the month in a November that saw them pick up seven points from an available nine. Only Inter (9) and Atalanta (8) scored more goals than Napoli (7) in November as Carlo Ancelotti’s side maintained their pursuit to run Juventus all the way in Italy’s top tier this term. 

Dries Mertens (8.15) landed the player of the month gong in November as he led the line with aplomb. He scored three and provided two assists, while 13 key passes was also the best return in Serie A last month. Napoli teammate Lorenzo Insigne (8.01) partners the Belgian in attack in the best XI with the Italian scoring two and assisting one for the Naples outfit in November. 

Kalidou Koulibaly (7.87) rounds off the Napoli contingent, with the commanding centre-back excelling last month. Sassuolo’s Gianmarco Ferrari (7.48) partners Koulibaly in defence with the Italian impressing at the back in a month that saw him land the WhoScored man of the match award in a 1-1 draw with Napoli. The duo operate in front of Udinese shotstopper Juan Musso (7.56), with the Argentine capping off a fine November with a man of the match display against Roma. 

Juventus full-backs Joao Cancelo (7.49) and Alex Sandro (7.35) make up the defence. Cancelo churned out two notable showings for the Old Lady in comfortable wins of Cagliari and AC Milan. Sandro, meanwhile, continued to show just why he is considered one of the finest left-backs on the continent, with the Brazilian’s performance against AC Milan landing him the man of the match award. Cristiano Ronaldo (7.95) rounds off the Juventus contingent as he had a direct hand in each of his three league outings in November. 

Inter Milan make up the remaining three players in this XI. Joao Mario (7.94) has exceeded expectations following his return to the first team fold as he put in a man of the match performance against Genoa, while Roberto Gagliardini (7.58) showcased his talent in his three appearances last month, which included a brace in the aforementioned with over Genoa. Matteo Politano (7.86) rounds off the XI after he had a direct hand in two goals in three appearances for Inter as he returned nine key passes and five successful dribbles.
