Former Arsenal target flourishes in European Team of the Week
Serie A, LaLiga and Ligue 1 all had a full round of matches in midweek and here we run through a combined best rated XI using WhoScored.com’s unique rating system. We have also supplied Football INDEX share prices for each player.
Goalkeeper: Andrea Consigli (Sassuolo) – 8.39 rating
Football INDEX share price – £0.26
Sassuolo slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Parma in midweek after conceding a 94-minute own goal to ruin all of Andrea Consigli’s hard work between the sticks. The 32-year-old denied Parma striker Roberto Inglese from the penalty spot midway through the second half and made four more saves during the match to earn the WhoScored Man of the Match award.
Right-back: Thomas Foket (Reims) - 7.97 rating
Football INDEX share price – N/A
Reims pulled off the shock result of the midweek matches across Europe’s top leagues after leaving Paris with a 2-0 win over the defending Ligue 1 champions. Thomas Foket capped off a fine individual display with an assist for Boulaye Dia’s overhead kick in stoppage time to rubber stamp all three points. The 25-year-old registered three key passes in total and also won four tackles up against Neymar.
Centre-back: Lucas Perrin (Marseille) – 8.23 rating
Football INDEX share price – N/A
Lucas Perrin enjoyed a dream debut for Marseille in midweek after picking up the WhoScored Man of the Match award in their 0-0 draw away to Dijon. The 20-year-old centre-back was dominant in the air, winning seven aerial duels, while hoovering up anything that came his way on the floor with seven tackles and interceptions combined. Perrin also showed composure in possession, completing two dribbles and drawing two fouls.
Centre-back: Pablo Martinez (Nimes) – 8.11 rating
Football INDEX share price – £0.25
Nimes suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Montpellier on Wednesday but it could have been worse had it not been for the display of centre-back Pablo Martinez. The 30-year-old equalled the record for the most interceptions made in a Ligue 1 game this season (seven), while also chipping in with four tackles and a goal-preventing clearance off the line.
Left-back: Cote (Eibar) – 8.27 rating
Football INDEX share price – N/A
Eibar remarkably came from 2-0 down to Sevilla to win 3-2 on Thursday evening, with left-back Cote scoring what proved the winning goal in the last 10 minutes. Making just his third appearance of the season, Cote also made four tackles and interceptions combined and two clearances. The 30-year-old also registered a completed dribble, one key pass and two aerial duels won to finish as the WhoScored Man of the match.
Right wing: Yoann Court (Brest) – 8.74 rating
Football INDEX share price – N/A
Brest winger Yoann Court is going through a purple patch of form in the last week. The 29-year-old registered two assists at the weekend and followed that up with two goals in Brest’s 2-2 draw with Lyon on Wednesday. Court scored his two goals from three attempts on goal and notably worked hard when Brest were out of possession, completing five tackles
Central midfield: Yacine Adli (Bordeaux) – 9.02 rating
Football INDEX share price – £1.60
Unai Emery may still rue missing out on Yacine Adli 12 months ago, as the 19-year-old is showing what all the fuss is about at Bordeaux this season. Instead of joining Arsenal, Adli opted to stay at boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain only to be sold to Bordeaux over the summer. Adli has now registered back-to-back WhoScored Man of the Match displays in Ligue 1 after scoring twice in their 3-1 win away to Bordeaux on Wednesday. As well as scoring with both attempts on goal, the teenager registered two key passes and completed two dribbles. This weekend he faces former club PSG!
Central midfield: Aleksandr Golovin (Monaco) – 9.99 rating
Football INDEX share price – £1.23
Aleksandr Golovin has been a relative disappointment for Monaco since signing for the club after his performances at the 2018 World Cup but he turned in his best display to date in their much-needed win in midweek. Monaco defeated rivals Nice 3-1 on Tuesday, with Golovin playing a direct hand in all three goals. The Russia international scored twice and registered one assist to finish the midweek batch of matches as the WhoScored player of the week, agonisingly missing out on a perfect WhoScored 10 rating.
Left wing: Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad) – 8.97 rating
Football INDEX share price – £2.17
Martin Odegaard’s sublime assist went viral across the internet on Thursday night but it was Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal that stole the show in their 3-0 win at home to Alaves. Oyarzabal, who has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Leroy Sane by Manchester City, played a direct hand in all three goals, scoring twice and providing one assist. The 22-year-old has now won successive WhoScored Man of the Match awards in LaLiga.
Striker: Loren Moron (Real Betis) – 8.53 rating
Football INDEX share price – £0.85
Loren Moron returned from suspension in ideal fashion for Real Betis after netting twice in their 3-1 win over Leganes on Tuesday. The 25-year-old now has five goals in three league starts for Betis this season and is surely pushing to become a regular starter for the LaLiga outfit.
Striker: Andrea Belotti (Torino) – 8.47 rating
Football INDEX share price – £1.36
Torino battled from 1-0 down to AC Milan to win 2-1 on Thursday night courtesy of two goals from star man Andrea Belotti, who has now netted four times in five league games this season. The Italy international has scored 10 goals in 11 appearances over league and European competition this season, finally rediscovering the same goal scoring form that saw him linked with a €100m move to Manchester United in 2017.
